the biblical case for the new testament Jesus Christ as the messiah and saviour,a messiah who would be rejected by his own people,die as an offering for sin and be ressurected,have a grave with the wicked

there are numerous prophecies in the Hebrew texts wich foretold the coming of Christ hundreds of years before Christ was born.

but the most famous one is Isaiah 53  written 800 years before Christ’s birth.

Isaiah 53

53 Who has believed our message
    and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
    and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
    nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted,
    yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
    and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
    so he did not open his mouth.
By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away.
    Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
    for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b]
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
    and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
    nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
    and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
    and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
11 After he has suffered,
    he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many,
    and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g]
    and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
    and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
    and made intercession for the transgressors.

lets dissect this piece by piece

1 ‘Who would have believed our report? the prophet Isaiah is saying who among us i.e jews would believe the report of messiah being here)And to whom hath the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 For he shot up right forth as a sapling, and as a root out of a dry ground; he had no form nor comeliness, that we should look upon him, nor beauty that we should delight in him.
3 He was despised, and forsaken of men, a man of pains, and acquainted with disease, and as one from whom men hide their face: he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely our diseases he did bear, and our pains he carried; whereas we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflictedthe prophet Isaiah is saying we.i.e israelites deemed him as a bad man.
5 But he was wounded because of our transgressions, he was crushed because of our iniquities: the chastisement of our welfare was upon him, and with his stripes we were healedwe the jews are healed by his stripes.
6 All we like sheep did go astray, we turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath made to light on him the iniquity of us all:again we the israelites went astray but our iniquity was put on him.
7 He was oppressed, though he humbled himself and opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before her shearers is dumb; yea, he opened not his mouth.this cannot be israel.israel has always been deceptive, a nation of harlots and fought against her enemies according to numerous descriptions in the hebrew texts and the prophets.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and with his generation who did reason? for he was cut off out of the land of the living, for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due : notice the distinction between him and our people,they are not the same person or subject.
9 And they made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich his tomb; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.’there is only one man in history who had a grave with the rich i.e Joseph of aramithea
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to crush him by disease; to see if his soul would offer itself in restitution, that he might see his seed, prolong his days, and that the purpose of the LORD might prosper by his hand:
יא מֵעֲמַל נַפְשׁוֹ, יִרְאֶה יִשְׂבָּע–בְּדַעְתּוֹ יַצְדִּיק צַדִּיק עַבְדִּי, לָרַבִּים; וַעֲוֹנֹתָם, הוּא יִסְבֹּל. 11 Of the travail of his soul he shall see to the full, even My servant, who by his knowledge did justify the Righteous One to the many, and their iniquities he did bear.
יב לָכֵן אֲחַלֶּק-לוֹ בָרַבִּים, וְאֶת-עֲצוּמִים יְחַלֵּק שָׁלָל, תַּחַת אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱרָה לַמָּוֶת נַפְשׁוֹ, וְאֶת-פֹּשְׁעִים נִמְנָה; וְהוּא חֵטְא-רַבִּים נָשָׂא, וְלַפֹּשְׁעִים יַפְגִּיעַ. {פ} 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion among the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the mighty; because he bared his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. {P}

Isaiah 52:13 states that it would be the Messiah who will “sprinkle” many nations. The word translated “sprinkle” or sometimes “startle” is found several other places in the OT. The Hebrew word is found in Leviticus 4:6; 8:11; 14:7, and Numbers 8:7, 19:18-19. The references cited all pertain to priestly sprinklings of the blood of atonement, the anointing oil of consecration, and the ceremonial water used to cleanse the unclean. Is Isaiah 52:13 telling us that the Messiah will act as a priest who applies atonement, anoints to consecrate, sprinkles to make clean? (This vision of the Messiah as both priest and king is also found in Zechariah 6:12-13). But, priests were to come from the tribe of Levi and Kings from the tribe of Judah in the hebrew law! What kind of priest is he? David told us Messiah would be a priest of the order of Melchizedek (see Psalm 110 and Hebrews chapters 7-9).
Isaiah 53 must be understood as referring to the coming Davidic King, the Messiah. King Messiah was prophesied to suffer and die to pay for our sins and then rise again. He would serve as a priest to the nations of the world and apply the blood of atonement to cleanse those who believe.

the rational case for God  outlined

the case for God’s existance is a rational one.everything that begins to exist has a cause.keyword on begins to exist,as there must be a uncaused cause to explain existance at all.we know that the universe began to exist,because matter degrades over time through the second law of thermodynamics,a material universe could never be eternal.all cosmologists agree the universe began to exist.

Now as the cause of space and time this being must be a uncaused timeless spaceless immaterial being of unfathomable power,morever it must be personal asswell.why?well,first of all, because this event must be beyond space and time it cannot be physichal or material.now there are only two things wich   fit that description either abstract objects  like numbers or an intelligent mind,but abstract objects can’t cause anything,therefore it follows that the cause of the universe is a personal transcendant being.secondely,how could a timeless cause give birth to a to  a temporal effect like the universe if the cause were a impersonal  set of neccassery conditions then the cause could never exist without its effect if the cause were permanentely present then the effect would be permanentely present aswell,the only way for the cause to be timeless and the effect to begin in time is for the cause to be a personal agent who freely chooses to create a event in time without any antecedent  determining conditions and thus we are brought to not only a transcendant cause but to its personal creator.

explaining the Trinity for Jews and muslims and why islam and judaism are polytheistic

the Trinity is found in the new testament as I have proven on this blog.

both jesus and holy spirit directely claim to be Yahweh in the New Testament .this can never be debunked.

essence and substance and being is what God is the trinity is who god is.

I my father and my son are all human,we are all two handed yet we are not the same person yet we are one humanity though plural in personality,what unites us is our essence wich in our case is physical but in God’s case is spiritual.

similarly father,the son and the spirit are all one God because they are one essence,but they are three different persons,the son and spirit proceed timelessly from the Father the monarch of the Trinity,and are one ousia with him thus one God.God is what someone is.a person is whom someone is.what amazes me about the islamic doctrine of Tawheed is that orthodox islam actually is polytheistic because they  presuppose different entities as being co-eternal with God but not of the same essence or ousia so no real unity.

what do I mean by this?lets start with islaam.

according to a’shari islam the dominant theology of ahlusunnah wa’l jammah or ther sunnis,the word of god is co-eternal with God and not created.jesus christ is the word of God according to the Qu’ran.the Quran is the wotrd of God according to the Quran.the Torah and psalms (Zabur)and injil(gospel) are his words according to the Quran.so already we have 5 co -existant entities with God.but if we particularly target the salafiyah /wahabbiyah sect of puritan islam ,we get Allah being contained by a Body and not being omnipresent.this means their God is restricted by space.this means space,if god had a actual body eternally and is restricted to that body-no matter how big-he is restricted by Space,and thus space was not a creation bo a co-eternal property with God.some may say space is abstract,but there still exists the  throne of allah wich most muslims assume is co-eternal with allah and stronger than allah because it holds him up.

what about Judaism?most of judaism Believes in  the 10 Sefirot and Tree of life  wich are actually godesses and gods copulating with one another

although trinitarian orthodoxy does postulate a plurality of persons,it maintains a oneness of being and essence and thus Believes in one God.

The Trinity in Scripture,debunking Jehova witnesses and Unitarians

7Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says,
“TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,

8DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME,
AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS,

9WHERE YOUR FATHERS TRIEDMeBY TESTINGMe,
AND SAW MY WORKS FOR FORTY YEARS.

10“THEREFORE I WAS ANGRY WITH THIS GENERATION,
AND SAID, ‘THEY ALWAYS GO ASTRAY IN THEIR HEART,
AND THEY DID NOT KNOW MY WAYS’;

11AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH,
‘THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.’”

Here the Holy Spirit,directely Claims to be the one that was tested,tried by the israelites and did the works in the desert for forty years.

17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.  Revelation 1

this is a direct claim by Jesus to be God.as God says in Isaiah

6 Thus saith the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer the LORD of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last, and beside Me there is no God.

So there we have both Jesus and the Spirit claiming to be God along with the Father!

Peter was not the Rock the faith is,collegiality and the keys.

among Proponents of the Papacy,it is almost a mantra  that Peter was the Rock christ built his Church on according to the Gospel of Matthew.This is endlessly argued by Roman Catholic Apologists and is ‘proof’why the Orthodox and the Protestants are astray and refuse to heed clear scripture.but is this truly the Case?

13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.

First ,lets look at this from a Linguistic angle.

Roman Catholic claim : The Greek New Testament Text is a faulty translation wich Betrays the original Aramaic .in the Original Aramaic,Jesus makes no distinction between masculine Pebble(Petros) and Feminine Big Rock(Petra),Jesus simpely says You are Kefa and on this Kefa I build my Church,and the Gates of Hell will not overcome it.

Orthodox Answer:According to the Holy Fathers The Gospel of Matthew is originally a Hebrew Document,not a Aramaic one.

Secondely,the Peshitta is a uninspired translation of the Greek Text.and even then a accuratte Rendering of the verse would call the Rock Shu’a not kefa as the text does.

Jerome says the gospel was originally written in hebrew and then translated into Aramaic.the original hebrew was in his time still in the library of Caeserea.

Thirdly,The Consensus of 70 Fathers(1) of the church is that the Rock is Peter’s Confession of faith not the Person of Peter.only ambrose of milan and st.cyprian of carthage maintain peter as being the Rock.if we follow the consensus of the Fathers,we must hold the faith nas being the rock not the person of peter.

as Catholic Saint Augustine says

Christ, you see, built his Church not on a man but on Peter’s confession. What is Peter’s confession? ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ There’s the rock for you, there’s the foundation, there’s where the Church has been built, which the gates of the underworld cannot conquer. (Sermon 229)

About Collegiality.none of the fathers indicate papal supremacy.rather all of them indicate collegiality of the successors of the Apostles the bishops.

lets take Saint Cyprian Bishop of Carthage, who considered peter the rock(but saw every bishop as owning the chair of peter) he says: Certainly the other Apostles also were what Peter was, endued with an equal fellowship both of honour and power; but a commencement is made from unity, that the Church may be set before as one; which one Church, in the Song of Songs, doth the Holy Spirit design and name in the Person of our Lord: My dove, My spotless one, is but one; she is the only one of her mother, elect of her that bare her (Cant. 9:6) (A Library of the Fathers of the Holy Catholic Church (Oxford: Parker, 1844), Cyprian, On The Unity of the Church 3, p. 133).

For the Son of thunder(John), the beloved of Christ, the pillar# of the Churches throughout the world, who holds the keys of heaven#, who drank the cup of Christ, and was baptized with His baptism, who lay upon his Master’s bosom, with much confidence, this man now comes forward to us now (Philip Schaff, Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1956), Volume XIV, Saint Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of John, Homily 1.1, p. 1).

St. Bede: “Although it may seem that this power of loosing and binding was given by the Lord only to Peter, we must nevertheless know without any doubt that it was given to the other apostles…Indeed even now the same office is committed to the whole Church in her bishops and priests.”[Bede the Venerable, Homilies on the Gospels: Book One: Advent to Lent, Hom. I.20, p. 202.]

St. Isidore of Seville: “So Peter first received the power of binding and loosing, and he first led people to faith by the power of his preaching. Still, the other Apostles have been made equal with Peter in a fellowship of dignity and power. They also, having been sent out into all the world, preached the Gospel. Having descended from these apostles, the bishops have succeeded them, and through all the world they have been established in the seats of the apostles”(De Ecclesiasticus, II.5, M.P.L., Vol. 83, Col. 781-782).

Origen:

But if you think the whole church to be built by God upon that one Peter only, what would you say of John the son of thunder or each of the Apostles? Are we to venture to say that the gates of Hades do not prevail against Peter by a special privilege, but prevail against the other Apostles and the perfect? What is said surely belongs to each and all of them, since all are ‘Peter’ and the ‘Rock,’ and the church of God has been built upon them all, and against none who are such do the gates of Hades prevail. Is it to Peter alone that the Lord gives the keys of the kingdom of Heaven, and will no other of the blessed receive them? But if this privilege, ‘I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven,’ is common to the others, so also are all the preceding words addressed as it were to Peter (Origen on Matthew XII, 10 as cited in eyendorff J. The Primacy of Peter: essays in ecclesiology and the early church St Vladimir’s Seminary Press, 1992, p. 61).

Saint Chrysostom

“For (John) the Son of thunder, the beloved of Christ, the pillar of the Churches throughout the world, who holds the keys of heaven, who drank the cup of Christ, and was baptized with His baptism, who lay upon his Master’s bosom, with much confidence, this man now comes forward to us now”Homilies on the Gospel of John. Preface to Homily 1.1

of the Fathers that called peter the corypheus of the apostles,they also call paul,andrew,John the coryphaeus in other places!Do not be fooled by Catholic selective quotations.always read the fathers in context.

Catholic Claim:Yes,the Fathers did interpret the Rock as being the faith of peter,but he only gave the nkeys of heaven to Peter!this proves Peter’s Authority!

Orthodox Answer:

There is one Universal Church of the faithful, outside of which there is absolutely no salvation. In which there is the same priest and sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the forms of bread and wine; the bread being changed (transsubstantiatio) by divine power into the body, and the wine into the blood, so that to realize the mystery of unity we may receive of Him what He has received of us. And this sacrament no one can effect except the priest who has been duly ordained in accordance with the keys of the Church, which Jesus Christ Himself gave to the Apostles and their successors. Canon 1, Fourth Lateran Council, http://legacy.fordham.edu/halsall/basis/lateran4.asp

So a Catholic ‘infallible’ecumenical council declared that peter did not alone receive the keys but also the apostles and their successors

If, however, Jovinianus should obstinately contend that John was not a virgin, (whereas we have maintained that his virginity was the cause of the special love our Lord bore to him), let him explain, if he was not a virgin, why it was that he was loved more than the other Apostles. But you say, Matthew 16:18 the Church was founded upon Peter: although elsewhere the same is attributed to all the Apostles, and they all receive the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and the strength of the Church depends upon them all alike, yet one among the twelve is chosen so that when a head has been appointed, there may be no occasion for schism.

St. Jerome, Against Jovianus, Book I: 26

St. Bruno of Segni : Here in fact this statement is said principally to Peter, and it ought to be understood as being said to the rest of the apostles. And not only to the apostles, but truly also to the bishops and priests. In fact, the keys and powers themselves have been given by the Lord to not only will free the Church, but also to open the heavens to others.

also if the keys are the powers of binding and loosing,did not the Lord give this privelage to all the apostles in Matthew 18:18? “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be[e] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[f] loosed in heaven.

Lastly,what makes the Pope of Rome the successor of Saint Peter?Alexandria and Antioch are petrine sees.Saint Mark,being the interpreter of saint peter was ordianed as his successor by him  and he established the Bishopric of Alexandria  held today by the Coptic pope Tawadros II.

Abba Tawadros II of Alexandria,and Mar Ignatius Aphrem of Antioch are the direct successors of Saint Peter,why do catholics not call for us to obey them as absolute dictators of the Believers?

in fact NOWHERE does Scripture state peter went to rome or made a successor there whereas it does say so for Antioch!
